Ermsy x Santa Cruz
For FA21 we worked with UK born Artist Ermsy on the ‘Twisted Hand’ capsule.
He is best known for his re-invention of pop-culture characters in his imaginative artwork. His artwork spans from drawings to mural work in spray paint, to commercial work.
The ‘Twisted Hand’ is his take on Jim Phillips’ iconic graphic, ‘The Screaming Hand’.

What’s your process?
Usually finding images and drawing into them or taking pieces of them. Seeing images that I like and adding some twists here and there to make it look cool. Thinking up scenarios to put characters into, or just jamming with one or two characters and trying to get loose and make something interesting looking.
What mediums do you use?
I like drawing on paper, and lately I’ve been colouring up outlines in photoshop. Mostly Copic markers on Copic paper. I also paint a bit.
What inspires you?
A lot of comic art, bootleg toys, and shirts. Fine art and old objects. Foreign comics that I don’t understand so I’m forced to look at the pictures. Pre-war American comics. Early Disney. Whatever catches my eye!
What made you want to choose art for your career?
It’s all I wanted to do from an early age. I was ok at the other subjects in school, but it was art that really motivated me. I got into graffiti quite young and just saw it as an extension of art. Then graphic design and now illustration.
What do you listen to when you work?
Mostly YouTube channels about true crime and ancient civilizations, Joe Rogan on Spotify, and various others. Music-wise I like library music and Italian soundtracks. I’m a vinyl nerd (FIRST PRESSES ONLY!)
